Tax Reform News You Can Use - Via Lori Parrish Website: Vote January 29, 2008

HOW MUCH WILL I SAVE UNDER THE NEW TAX PLAN? HOW WILL PORTABILITY WORK? DOES IT TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY?

Florida voters will decide on January 29, 2008, whether or not to grant added tax relief to property owners. The proposed constitutional amendment would double the homestead exemption to $50,000 ... give homesteaded owners the "portability" right to move Save Our Homes benefits to a new homesteaded property ... grant businesses and mobile home residents a $25,000 break on tangible personal property taxes ... and will cap annual increases for non-homesteaded properties to no more than 10%. The proposal also fully preserves the existing 3% Save Our Homes cap. Click here to read a helpful summary of the proposed amendment. We created a new calculator tool -- located on the top of each individual property record page -- so you can see exactly how these proposals could impact your tax bill.

Your 2008 Homestead Exemption Renewal Receipt has a personal pin number for you to fill out a survey online for the number of beds, baths, garage, pool, and air - which will help the Broward County Property Appraiser's Office update their existing computer system.
